As the rain fell and the temperatures dropped it didn’t seem like the right time for summer sports, however, Desford Lawn Tennis Club held an American tournament at the weekend for their junior members. The tournament is played as doubles tennis but the partnerships are mixed up every match allowing all players to play with and against every other player in the competition. The weather improved during the afternoon, temperatures increased and after a total of twenty matches the three leaders were split by only one point. The winner was Daniel Wilson with Will Shields and Kavan Godfrey sharing second place followed by Louis Rood. The previous week the club had organised a Mini Tennis competition for their under 10 year old members with Reece Brannon beating James Green in the final.
